We had an absolutely wonderful Christmas and New Year’s
holiday in La Paz!! Our festivities
included:
Christmas decorations for the boat
Putting up the Christmas tree |
Filling our “stockings” (ie. Smartwools with our names sewn into them) with random and funny named Mexican candies |
Matt channeling Gail making holiday treats
Magic cookie bars |
Grog |
Christmas Eve cruisers’ potluck, organized by Tom and Ana on
Seazure
Christmas morning French toast
Christmas Day lounging poolside
Christmas Day dinner with roast, and all the fixings
Homemade apple empanadas |
Seafood Boxing Day dinner of giant prawns and fish from the
Bravo Market
Flamenco, Rumba, Rock fusion concert at the Costa Baja (Mala
Rumba)
Several visits around our favourite Mexican city
Well if Santa believes in you... |
Fish tacos on Calle Rangel and Sonora |
Forever 33 not as popular as Forever 21, though I am enjoying it! |
A really great restaurant on Isabel la Catolica and Encinas |
Very informative tour at the Museo de la Ballena (on Navarro and Ignacio Altamirano near the Teatro de La Paz) |
Inside the full skeleton of a blue whale |
A fantastic experience swimming with the whale sharks in
front of El Mogote. Whale sharks are the largest known
species of fish, and we got some great videos swimming alongside them!
We went into the city for New Year’s Eve, and ended up
dancing at The Jungle club on the malecón. The party didn’t get started until
late (just after midnight), but it was a great mix of tourists and locals, and
there was even a live band for a while.
Although we love La Paz, it’s time to move on and see some
more of Mexico!
You guys look SO great! Looks like you had a blast. We missed you -- but there's no competing with that!! :) Love the dress, Rachel. We need the full view of it on you.... Love from Indiana and the soon-coming 12 inches of snow and a high of -11 on Mon with -30 degree wind chills on Mon/Tues. Stay warm!!! XOXOX
